The main activity of the laboratory is to provide test services to the Institute current research projects. Studies of chemical compositions of metallurgical raw materials and products (ores, concentrates, metals, alloys, casting, rolling, etc.), X-ray diffraction and X-ray phase tests, electron-microprobe and laser-optical tests. Studies of physical-chemical and physical-mechanical properties of materials. In addition, for the needs of the state, the laboratory carries out scientific and technical expertise of metals, metal products and constructions. Provides defining the compliance requirements to standards of physical, chemical, mechanical and other properties of materials.

 

Major achievements

  • Developed are for cryogenic, chemical and special machinery, several austenitic alloys with high operational strength, plastisity, toughness and weldability at a cryogenic temperature, and different products have been made of them;
  • The technology of manufacture of alloys nano modification, including the type of Hadfield and chrome-silicon special purpose steels, to improve the wear resistance, mechanical and other technological properties. The developed technology used for manufactured durable products with enduring operational life;
  • Multicomponent iron-chromium-magnesium system austenitic solid solutions quazibinary, quazitriple, quazitetral structural diagrams have been plotted;
  • Developed is chromium-magnesium, austenitic, high-hardness, paramagnetic, criogenic alloy;
  • Obtained are from relevant oxides the pure metals Pb, Sn, Cu, Fe, Co, Ni, as well as chromium, tungsten, titanium carbides and carbon nano- tubes by a developed original method,.
