On February 21 at the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, the President of the Academy George Kvesitadze congratulated Academician Giorgi Tavadze, Director of Ferdinand Tavadze Metallurgy and Materials Science Institute, on the 75th anniversary of his birth and 50th anniversary of his scientific, pedagogical and public activities and handed over a commemorative address.

In connection with the World Science Day established by UNESCO the Georgian National Academy of Sciences awarded Professor Jumber Khantadze with a certificate of honor for scientific achievements in the field of Inorganic Materials Science.

On October 30, 2019, a ceremony dedicated to Metallurgist Day, organized by Georgian Manganese in Zestaphoni, was attended by Representatives of Ferdinand Tavadze Metallurgy and Materials Science Institut. They laid a wreath of live flowers at the statue of great public figure Giorgi Nikoladze.

The 20th International Symposium on Boron, Borides and Related Materials (ISBB 2019) was held in Niigata, Japan, on 2019 September 22 – 27, i.e. 60 years after the 1st Symposium held in 1959 (Asbury Park, USA).

On May 21, the Youth Scientific-Technical Group was founded in Ferdinand Tavadze Metallurgy and Materials Science Institute.  Members of the Group are young scientists, engineers and technicians employed in various laboratories of the Institute.

Today, on May 21, 107 years since the birth of Academician Ferdinand Tavadze, one of the first renowned Georgian metallurgy scientists and founder of Ferdinand Tavadze Metallurgy and Materials Science Institute.

Innovation and High Technology Center Session

At the May 3, 2019 session, the Georgian National Academy of Sciences presented the honorary diplomas to the scientists and inventors, who possess a large number of active patents in our country - Professor Leon Makharadze, Professor Manana Karchava, Professor Revaz Makharoblidze, Dr. Zaur Chitidze, Professor Raul Turmanidze, Academician Giorgi Tavadze, Academician Elguja Medzmariashvili and Professor Guram Qashakashvili.  For their achievements in the innovations and high technologies sphere they were awarded the World Intellectual Property Day (April 26).

On April 24, 2019, Director of Ferdinand Tavadze Metallurgy and Materials Science Institute, Academician Giorgi Tavadze, Scientific Projects and Technologies Commercialization Center Archil Gachechiladze, Chair of Scientific Board, Doctor of chemistry sciences Jumber Khantadze, Doctor of historical sciences Givi Inanishvili and the members of the newly formed in the Institute - Young Scientists Board - arrived in Sameba village (Tsalka region) to make a response visit to the secondary school.
